Helpless woman mauled by her own dogs: West Australian remains in hospital with horrific injuries
Nikita Piil, aged 31, underwent a surgical procedure subsequent to being assaulted by her Rottweiler canines, Bronx and Harlem, at her residence in Success, located in the southern region of Perth, at approximately 4:30 pm on Saturday. The attack resulted in Piil experiencing significant blood loss and sustaining severe bite injuries to her arms and legs.
The victim was reportedly being attacked by her two Rottweilers, prompting her neighbors to intervene. Despite their efforts, they were unable to subdue the dogs due to their aggressive behavior.
One neighbor, Bryn Spencer, expressed his desire to rescue the victim but was unable to do so without proper equipment. Another individual attempted to deter the dogs by spraying them with water. The victim’s condition is currently listed as serious but stable.
The animal sustained severe injuries and as a result, the rangers were summoned to transport it to a nearby veterinary hospital where it was humanely put down. The officers were able to secure the other dog in the garage while Ms Piil was immediately transported to the hospital due to the severe wounds on her arms and legs. She is currently in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Perth Hospital, and the medical team is preparing for an emergency surgery to save her arm.
The second dog has been transferred to the City of Cockburn’s animal management facility, where it will remain until the investigations surrounding the incident are concluded. Ms Piil’s fondness for her rottweilers is evident on her Facebook page, where she has posted a photo of the two dogs standing next to some artificial turf they have dug up, captioned “My babies” with a black love heart. In another photo, she can be seen kissing one of the dogs on the snout as it lies on a couch.
The authorities were promptly notified and upon arrival, it was reported that an officer was compelled to use lethal force to protect the life of Piil due to the dogs’ highly aggressive behavior. In a statement to 9news.com.au, a spokesperson for WA Police stated that the discharge of a firearm was necessary to prevent further harm to human life.
Piil was immediately transported to a medical facility and is currently in a serious but stable condition.
