Paris Fury says: ‘My children will choose their own path’
Paris Fury gave birth to her first child at the tender age of 20; however, she does not wish for her own children to adhere to the conventional practice of starting a family at a young age. Despite being on the verge of delivering her seventh child with her esteemed boxing champion spouse, Tyson Fury, Paris firmly asserts that her offspring should have the autonomy to determine their own life trajectories.
“Their heritage is a Gypsy background, so it’s normal to be married and have kids young.
“But if they don’t choose that, that’s up to them. Everybody’s situation is different, but I’ve never, ever looked at having children young as a hindrance.
“It was something I always wanted and planned.”
It is fortunate that she will soon be occupied with the responsibility of tending to her most recent addition, in addition to Venezuela, aged 13, Prince John James, aged 11, Prince Tyson II, aged seven, Valencia, aged five, Prince Adonis, aged four, and two-year-old Athena. It is worth noting that Athena’s early days were marked by turbulence, as she spent several days in intensive care on a ventilator following her birth in August 2021.
It is a stroke of good fortune that she will soon be engaged in the duty of caring for her latest offspring, alongside her existing children, namely Venezuela, aged 13, Prince John James, aged 11, Prince Tyson II, aged seven, Valencia, aged five, Prince Adonis, aged four, and two-year-old Athena. It is noteworthy to mention that Athena’s initial days were marred by tumultuous circumstances, as she underwent an extended period of intensive care while being supported by a ventilator subsequent to her birth in August 2021.
“So, by choosing to stay at home instead of going to school, kids like me were given plenty of time to be taught practical skills by our elders, like how to cook a meal or change a tyre, or how to replace a broken wall tile or polish the family silver.
“Choosing home over school in your early-to-mid-teens is still seen as controversial by many in the wider world – many times on Loose Women I’ve had to argue my case for leapfrogging secondary education, but speaking from personal experience, I think it makes total sense.“
A potential benefit of having fewer children to prepare in the morning is the increased opportunity to organize oneself for the school run. The audience of the family’s recent Netflix show, At Home With The Furys, became fixated on Paris’ morning routine, in which she managed to get all her children ready to leave within an hour. However, Paris admits that sometimes the mornings are so chaotic that she doesn’t even have time to change out of her pajamas. She chuckles as she recalls instances where she has been running late and found herself still in her pajama bottoms. On one occasion, she even ran out of fuel on the roadside and had to hide for an hour until a friend brought her a drum of diesel.
Paris and Tyson, who was also raised in the Travelling community, first met when she was 15 and he was 17. They married three years later in 2008. Paris has now spent more of her life with the world champion heavyweight boxer than without him. She has stood by his side throughout his well-documented struggles with mental health, which led to issues with substance abuse before he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2017.
Paris explains that she doesn’t know any other way of life and is content with everything in her life. While it may seem unconventional to others, it is their normal. She believes that love conquers all and doesn’t view her relationship with Tyson as a challenge. To her, it is simply normal because they have been together since their youth.
Family is the focal point of Paris’ life, influenced by her upbringing with her sisters, Romain and Montana, and her brother Jimmy. Romain suffered from whooping cough as a baby, resulting in brain damage and permanent learning disabilities. She continues to receive care from their parents.
