History of Chele Chele Villa
The Villa is the pearl among buildings of historical importance. It was designed in a Bauhaus style by world renowned German architect Ernst May, for Captain Murray. Ernst May’s architectural designs are also found in many major East African cities.
Chele Chele Villa was completed in October of 1936. Originally it was built on a coffee estate and interestingly, the estate was producing coffee until the early 70’s. Since then, the Villa changed owners several times and was reconstructed to maintain elegant English country style with the touch of African culture. It features original African artifacts that had been gathered throughout its nearly century-long history.
