Fitness coach who lost more than 60 pounds by quitting yo-yo diet share3 easy ways to lose weight

Maddie Kossin before and after

Maddie Kossin, a renowned fitness coach and nutritionist with over 272,000 followers on TikTok, has recently shared three simple yet effective tips for individuals who aspire to lose weight but lack the knowledge to initiate the process. Having personally experienced the challenges of body image and food-related issues for nearly a decade, the 25-year-old successfully shed over 60 pounds after abandoning yo-yo dieting and adopting a sustainable approach to weight loss almost seven years ago. Maddie’s ‘no BS’ approach to fat loss has garnered significant attention on social media, making her a trusted source of guidance for individuals seeking to achieve their fitness goals.

Following the abandonment of fad diets and a shift towards sustainable lifestyle modifications, the 5-foot-1 trainer successfully achieved a weight loss of nearly 66 pounds, accompanied by a reduction in body fat percentage to 24%.

Kossin dedicated one of her videos to ‘easy weight loss tips’ for people who were ‘starting from scratch,’ saying this was where she would start if she was a beginner.

‘These things are so easy to do, so you cannot make an excuse this time,’ she said.

Kossin’s first piece of advice was to ‘get a cute water bottle’ and take it with you wherever you go.

‘Drink it before you eat. Drink it after you eat. Drink it in between meals. Just carry something like this with you and get used to picking it up and drinking it,’ she said.

‘This is not hard to do. Don’t make an excuse for this.’

Her second tip was to ‘intentionally walk for 20 minutes every single day.’

‘You could do this at your house. You could do this at Target. You could do this outside. You could literally do this anywhere,’ she insisted.

Kossin noted that you could also break up the 20 minutes any way you saw fit, saying you could walk for four minutes five times or 10 minutes two times. It’s up to you.

The fitness coach said her third and final recommendation was the ‘most important.’

She advised individuals to write down their current weight loss goal in the present tense, as if they had already achieved it. For example, if the goal is to lose 30 pounds, they should write, “I am so grateful that I have lost 30 pounds, and I feel amazing in my skin.”

She concluded by emphasizing the importance of consistently practicing these three actions every day and highlighted the positive impact it can have on one’s mindset.

The 57-second video has garnered nearly 300 comments, with many fans expressing gratitude for her no-excuse approach to getting started. One person wrote, “I was watching TikTok with 20 minutes to spare, but now I’m walking instead of sitting… thank you.” Another individual added, “I wanted to come back and say that I’m actually doing this, and your statement about not making excuses was the motivation I needed.”

Earlier this year, Kossin shared on Instagram that she had reached her lowest weight of 134 pounds since embarking on her transformation journey. She accompanied her post with before and after photos, expressing her disbelief at having successfully lost the weight. She also mentioned that there was a time when she believed she was genetically destined to remain stuck and overweight for life.

Kossin shared that the most frequently asked question she received was regarding the duration of her weight loss journey. She explained that there was a six-year gap between the two pictures, during which she experienced a combination of inconsistent efforts, body recomposition, muscle building, diet breaks, and enjoyable activities. She clarified that she was likely in a calorie deficit for only one year out of the six.

One thing she emphasized was the importance of prioritizing the right approach over speed when it comes to weight loss. She admitted that she had made the mistake of focusing on quick results in the past, which ultimately led to failure. She stressed that without intentionally adopting a sustainable routine and mindset for the long term, individuals are bound to encounter difficulties.

Kossin acknowledged that she had tried various weight loss methods, including keto, Weight Watchers, and Atkins. However, she found that the only effective strategy for her was making lifestyle changes that she could maintain consistently.

She emphasized that achieving weight loss goals requires more than just going to the gym or eating healthier foods until the desired outcome is reached. It is a lifelong commitment that many people are unwilling to accept.

Kossin admitted that the journey of weight loss and lifestyle change is challenging. Breaking the habit of indulging in a McFlurry every time she had a bad day was particularly difficult. However, she found that the real struggle was waking up in the morning and realizing that neglecting physical activity and nourishing her body with nutrient-rich foods was detrimental to her health.

Ultimately, she encouraged individuals to choose their own challenges wisely, recognizing that both weight loss and lifestyle change require dedication and perseverance.
