Woman spent £30,000 on body makeover with no regrets
Scarlet Black, a 27-year-old resident of the United Kingdom, made a significant financial commitment of $36,000 to sculpt her body into what she considers a masterpiece. Instead of utilizing her life savings to purchase her dream home, she opted to undergo 13 extensive plastic surgery procedures.
Black justified her decision by emphasizing the importance of living in a body that she adores, surpassing the significance of residing in a new house. She firmly believes that one spends more time in their own body than in their dwelling, making it a worthwhile self-investment.
Her comprehensive body transformation encompasses three breast augmentation surgeries, a Brazilian butt lift, liposuction, and an arm lift. Black, known for her playful nature, shared with Caters News that she embarked on this journey in early 2021. This decision was prompted by her weight reaching 350 pounds due to excessive consumption of unhealthy foods during the pandemic.
Despite incurring a financial setback of £30,000, the individual in question maintains an optimistic outlook regarding her choice, expressing, “While I may not be acquiring my ideal residence, I am fortunate to inhabit the body I have always aspired to possess.”
Scarlet’s inclination towards expending substantial sums on enhancing her physical appearance led to her surpassing the allocated budget by £31,500. Nevertheless, this monetary setback holds little significance for her, as she has endured significant challenges throughout her formative years in relation to her weight.
“Lockdown happened, I stayed in more, binged more on [take-out] and stopped walking as much,” said Black, who has admittedly struggled with her weight since childhood, cyclically dropping and gaining pounds on trending yo-yo diets.
She said: ‘I was always big growing up, on and off yo-yo diets with losing loads and gaining loads.
‘I was stuck in a vicious cycle that I couldn’t get out of.
‘Lockdown happened, I stayed in more, binged more on takeaways, and stopped walking as much.
She added: ‘I would eat portions made for families.
‘For a meal, I would have a large pizza, garlic bread, fried chicken, and wedges on the side which would be washed down with a 1.5 litre of cola and a big cookie pudding.
‘Some days, I would have three takeaways a day.
‘My health was deteriorating, I heard about the gastric sleeve, and that for me was my last resort for help.’
Following her gastric sleeve procedure in February 2021, Scarlet experienced a remarkable boost in her self-assurance, prompting her to make the decision to undergo additional surgeries. These included a tummy tuck, muscle repair, arm liposuction, and an arm lift, all of which were scheduled for November 2021.
The purpose of these surgeries was to address the physical consequences resulting from the gastric sleeve procedure, specifically the issue of excess skin, as Scarlet had impressively shed a staggering 14 stone (196 lbs).
In March 2022, Scarlet underwent a breast augmentation procedure, incurring an additional expense of £6,000, further contributing to her total expenditure of £30,000.
Scarlet explained, “I actually underwent three breast augmentation surgeries, which often surprises people. However, unless you have experienced this procedure, it may not be widely known that it is necessary to gradually increase the size in order to allow the skin to stretch properly. Failure to do so can lead to numerous complications.”
Subsequently, in August 2022, Scarlet returned to Turkey for a thigh lift and another breast augmentation, amounting to a total cost of £7,000.
One year later, in August of the following year, the 27-year-old revisited her surgeon to enhance her body contours, incurring an expense of £8,000, depleting her entire deposit.
The £8,000 paid for her Periareolar, breast augmentation, BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift), liposuction, and buttock lift.
‘When I was bigger, I was obviously more curvaceous, and I just missed having some curves as they always made me feel feminine.
‘So, I gained some extra weight which ended up being 2st (28lbs) and booked myself in for the BBL and other procedures.
‘It was a bit triggering when I was getting it done, as they needed me to have enough fat to suck out of me, to put back into me.
She added: ‘I just kept thinking to myself, ‘Oh god, I’m doing the opposite, I’m putting weight back on’, but you know what, after the surgery, I feel really good and it’s the best I have ever felt.’
With Scarlet’s house deposit all gone, she has no regrets.
She said: ‘I would do it again in a heartbeat to see myself in the mirror now and actually smile back at my reflection.
‘At the end of the day, money comes back but it’s helped me mentally and physically… and I do not regret it.
‘I’m currently saving again to buy a house next year or the year after, you live in your body more than your own home, so to me, it’s just self-investing.’
